Level 5-1
Coral Reef
Dive into the vibrant underwater world of the Coral Reef. This introductory ocean level teaches water-based movement mechanics including buoyancy control and current navigation. The colorful environment hides dangers among the beauty.
Level Objectives
- Navigate through coral formations
- Defeat 50 reef enemies
- Collect 10 pearls
- Complete in under 4 minutes

Step-by-Step Guide
Water Physics Introduction
Movement underwater is slower and more floaty than on land. You have a new 'ascend' and 'descend' control for vertical movement. Momentum carries further - quick taps for precise movement, hold for faster travel. There's no gravity, so you won't fall.
Ocean Currents (First Mechanic)
Blue current streams push you in their flow direction. Green currents speed you up (1.5x speed), orange currents slow you down (0.5x speed). You can fight against currents but it's inefficient. Work with them - plan your path to use green currents for speed boosts.
Coral Navigation
The reef is a maze of colorful coral. Some coral is background decoration (you pass through), some is solid (blocks movement). Purple coral damages you on contact (15% HP). The safe path winds through gaps - look for openings.
Pearl Collection
10 pearls are hidden throughout the reef. They're not on the critical path - you must explore side areas. Pearls emit a faint glow. Common hiding spots: inside hollow coral, behind large rocks, in small cave alcoves.
Enemy Patterns
Reef enemies are passive - they patrol set routes and only attack if you get too close. Clownfish shoot single bullets, jellyfish fire spread patterns, sea urchins are stationary mines. Keep distance and pick them off from afar.
Enemy Guide
Clownfish
(Basic Enemy)Tips: Patrols horizontally. Shoots straight-line bullets when you're in range (5 units). Dies in 2 hits. Most common enemy - appears in groups of 3-5.
Jellyfish
(Mid-tier Enemy)Tips: Floats slowly and randomly. Fires 5-way spread shot every 3 seconds. Takes 4 hits. Glows blue - easy to spot. Dangerous in groups.
Sea Urchin
(Stationary Hazard)Tips: Doesn't move. Spins in place with extended spikes (damage radius 1 unit). Takes 3 hits. Can be destroyed from safe distance. Often blocks narrow passages.
Boss Battle Tips
- •Take your time learning water movement - you have 4 minutes which is generous for this level
- •Currents are your friend: Green current at the start boosts you quickly past the first coral section
- •Pearl locations: 3 in the northwest cave, 4 scattered in the central reef, 3 in the southeast cavern
- •Enemy priority: Kill jellyfish first (dangerous spread), then clownfish, ignore urchins unless they block your path
- •Secret shortcut: At 40% progress, there's a hidden tunnel through the coral wall on the right side - saves 20 seconds
